Denise Lamontagne

Denise Lamontagne began her career with the Cromwell Police Department in 1990 when she was sworn in as a Patrol Officer. Over the years, she distinguished herself through dedication, professionalism, and leadership, earning a series of assignments and promotions: Detective in 2004, Detective Sergeant in 2007, and Captain in 2012. In November 2017, she was formally appointed as Chief of Police, leading the department with distinction until her retirement in 2023.

A highlight of her career includes her graduation from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico in 2016, a 10-week program recognized worldwide for advancing law enforcement leadership. She also completed the FBI New England Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar and specialized training in Critical Legal Issues for Law Enforcement Commanders and Executives.
Chief Lamontagne was an active member of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association and served on the Capital Region Emergency Response Team.

Beyond her law enforcement accomplishments, Denise holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Eastern Connecticut State University. As Cromwell resident since 2014, Denise enjoys perfecting a loaf of sourdough, being active, traveling, as well as spending time with her wife and family. Denise has served the town of Cromwell for over 33 years, demonstrating her dedication to the community and its residents. With a long history of public service, she is excited about giving back as Tax Collector.
